Sun Goes Down

This project involved creating a composition using any quote of the student’s choosing, and incorporating it into a 3 layer print in which the blocks were created by laser cutting into masonite boards.

The print edition features a portrait of musician Lil Nas X, and a quote from his song “Sun Goes Down”. The song details his struggles with fitting in as a teenager who was coming to terms with his sexuality. The piece also incorporates imagery of butterflies, which feature heavily in the promotional material for his first album, “Montero” and are representational of him fully embracing being out as a gay man.
